Show Notes

Phil Kayumba, one of the best humans i have ever had the privilege to sit down and connect with.

Phil's story is inspiring, harrowing, and almost indescribable. Growing up as a displaced refugee, Phil spent much of his childhood away at boarding schools and elite soccer camps. An effort by his parents to shelter him from the war and bloodshed in his home country.

After fleeing Rwanda into Uganda, eventually making his way to Australia. Phil takes up studying in Melbourne to only have his visa, passport and home citizenship torn up as the president cancelled all of his families papers in an effort to get back at Phil's father.

While all this is happening, Phil is informed he is going to be a father. His reaction and stoic view on the situation is inspiring and should be a lesson to any young man out there that gets a woman pregnant.

To say Phil has had his fair share of ups and downs is a gross understatement. The man you hear today is a guy who has been moulded by every encounter and experience along the way. So many times he could have ended his own life and just given up.
